Q. Can I still make appointments with a career coach?

A. Yes. Career & Professional Development is transitioning to virtual appointments (email, google hangout, phone, etc).

Q. What virtual services are available to me?

A. Our team is prepared to support you virtually during your career development process! To work one-on-one with a coach, please call 336.334.5454, or logon to Handshake to schedule an appointment. Our Resume, Cover Letter, and Interview guides are available virtually, as well.

We offer several career readiness platforms which you can access at your convenience.

Q. What if I need to complete my I-9?

A. I-9 processing is on hold until further notice. You may still complete your I-9 remotely, in the presence of a notary. If you choose to complete your I-9 remotely, you will need to have a notary seal on your completed form and the copy of your accepted documents. The student employment office will still need to process the I-9 before you can begin working.

Q. What if I need a copy of my student employee's I-9?

A. Supervisors may request student’s I9 dates by emailing their student employee’s name and ID number to seo@uncg.edu.

Q. Can I still apply for jobs and internships through Handshake?

A. Yes! You have access to Handshake 24/7. We strongly encourage you to update your profile and fill out your career interests to ensure that Handshake is sending you the most appropriate information and so that recruiters can learn more about you!

Q. Will there be drop-in hours?

A. Though we will not be holding physical drop-in hours in CPD, you have many ways to receive feedback on your professional documents. You are welcome to make a virtual appointment with a career coach through Handshake (or by calling 336-334-5454), upload your resume to Handshake or VMock to receive instant feedback on your resume, or upload your cover letter to Handshake.
